NHL predictions and rankings - May 23, 2022

We’re about halfway through the second round and my model might not fare as well at predicting winners this time around.

Predictions for the 2021-22 season

I’m writing this on Monday with the tv on the Panthers vs Lightning game on. It’s 1-0 Lightning at the start of the third. I did not expect the Lightning to come out of the first round that strong. It’s disappointing for Florida who have marginal chance of winning the series now, being down 0-3. It’s likely to end tonight. The Hurricanes are in good position to win against the Rangers.

Jordan Bennington is out for the rest of the series and I expect that it means the end for the Blues. The Flames-Oilers is the most exiting series of the second round. I did not expect the Oilers to fare all that well against the Flames but they are proving me wrong.

Again, the Avalanche is on top with the Blues right behind. The Lightning climbed to the third position.
